History of SCR

Founded in 1983, SCR has experienced the growth of Northwest Florida first-hand, having been a part of much of the exciting expansion that has taken place. Along with the changes in the area, they too have expanded and undergone name changes to reflect that growth. From Rutherford Surveying, Inc. to SCR Surveying & Mapping, Inc. to SCR & Associates NWFL, Inc. The name has changed but the core of the company never has. The firm is a full service civil engineering and land surveying firm and can take care of all your needs.

Skip Rutherford brings over 50 years of surveying experience to the firm. He began the business in a 100-year-old wood frame house, and brought it from there to the modern, exciting firm of today. Skip is a believer in always having the latest in GPS, robotic, computer technology, and engineering practices. In this day and age, if you are not moving forward, you are moving backwards. SCR & Associates carry this belief in each and every aspect of their work.

Troy Rutherford grew up in the business under the tutelage of his father in surveying, working in his footsteps every summer from 12 years of age. He is an accomplished CAD operator, senior crew chief, specialized in complex construction stakeout, oversaw up to 7 crews at NW FL. Airport and serves as SCR’s Surveying Field Manager.

Scot Rutherford also grew up in the business of surveying and survey engineering. He is a graduate of Florida State University’s College of Engineering in Tallahassee. After returning from college with his degree in Civil Engineering, he worked for a national engineering firm. From here, Scot gained his Professional Engineering License and experience before he partnered with SCR. Scot brings the same ethics, professionalism, ingenuity, and hard work that his father built his surveying reputation on.

SCR has added staff, including a fellow graduate of Florida State University, and a licensed engineer & surveyor, Tres McMahon. Tres brings 21 years experience in land surveying and engineering. Including coastal and structural design and permitting in South Florida. He brings that knowledge and experience to SCR & The Panhandle.

Part of the core of SCR, Tony McClellan, is the firm’s accomplished CAD operator. Tony plays the key role in managing the surveying & engineering department, as well as being the firm’s client liaison, having gained the trust & respect of our clientele. SCR is excited about the doors that are opening every day in the engineering and surveying world. We pride ourselves on the major projects we have completed and are currently engaged in.

SCR’s experienced support staff is cross trained between field surveying, CAD operating, and engineering. Professionally trained staff and state-of-the-art equipment enables SCR to provide timely professional services. The firm takes pride in their reputation of working with other team members on projects to accomplish a common goal… to give their client an outstanding working relationship, quality product, accuracy, dependability when you need them, a belief system that allows you to be able to trust their word, and the ability to make your project work for you. Their goal is to always be professionals, giving you the best possible product and service with their knowledge, hard work and dedication.

Through recessions and booms, they have grown in civil, surveying, and planning and are poised to continue this growth.
